Eagle Ridge Elementary School teacher Justin Price is the April PVEA Recognition of Professional Standards (P.R.O.P.S.) award recipient. His nomination states, "He has endless patience to support our staff. He never turns any one down to help. He works to make education a better place for his students and colleagues, and works to incorporate the latest technology as well. In addition to his commitment to his students and classroom, Justin is the "go to" guy for the modeling of embedding technology in a classroom."

February 2012:
Valerie Cooksey |
Valerie Cooksey, music teacher from Whispering Winds Academy and Desert Springs Elementary is the February P.R.O.P.S recipient. Her nomination from Laura Casey stated, "Valerie Cooksey is an amazing music teacher. First semester she taught primary music classes at Whispering Wind Academy, and afternoon music at Desert Shadows. In addition, she has an intermediate choir at both schools, which she worked with before or after hours. Her choirs are amazing — they have performed for the school, the parents, and at PV Mall.
She prepared the second and third graders for an all-school presentation with speaking parts, choreography, and song. Although they were taught in individual classes, the days prior to the performance, she had all six classes on stage on risers practicing — over 150, seven-to-nine year olds"

Kim Jones |
For the month of January, the recipient is Kim Jones from Shea Middle School. In her nomination, Stephanie Scott writes, "Kim makes innumerable contributions to the Shea community. She serves as the English department chair and the AVID elective teacher. Kim has played an active role in effectively establishing the AVID program on our campus last year. She finds time to serve on both the Leadership and Instructional Practice Inventory Committees. In her own time she is continuously involved in improving her teaching practices through workshops. Her students look up to her and will be the first to tell you that she has created a warm and comfortable environment in which they are motivated to succeed."

Millie Cotto |
Millie Cotto from Palomino Primary School is the December P.R.O.P.S recipient. She was nominated by Diane Siekmann for being "an amazing social worker and true advocate for students. Mille makes sure that students at Palomino have every need met so they can learn. She provides our school community with clothing, food and shelter. Millie has provided sweatshirts, backpacks, shoes, bags of food and housing assistance to students in need. She truly makes a positive impact on our students and school."
