TRANSPORTATION MECHANIC III – (Formerly Senior Mechanic)

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Prefer 5 years skilled experience in auto, diesel, and heavy line, alternative fuel and A/C repairs.
3. Must have appropriate Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain within six (6) months.
4. School bus certifications from an accredited mechanic training program.
5. Effective communication skills.

REPORTS TO: Transportation Mechanic IV

SUPERVISES: Transportation Mechanic I & II

JOB GOAL:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Establish and maintain a good rapport with employees, students and community.

2. Perform complex diagnosis of mechanical defects and problems on district vehicles.

3. Performs diagnosis of compressed natural compressor systems.

4. Perform major repair work on all district vehicles and heavy equipment.

5. Instruct Transportation Mechanics I & II on repairs and procedures.

6. Make service calls.

7. Other job-related duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten, or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
