TRANSPORTATION BUS DRIVER-TRAINER – (formerly Bus Driver/Trainer)

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.                   High School Diploma or GED.

2.                   Must have acceptable driving record.

3.                   Must be Arizona Certified Bus Driver Trainer, or ability to obtain within 6 months.

4.                   Must have appropriate Arizona Commercial Drivers License.

5.                   Must be certified as a third party tester for Arizona Commercial Driver's License, or ability to obtain within 6 months.

6.                   Must be Red Cross certified instructor in CPR and First Aid, or ability to obtain within 6 months.

7.                   Must have three years experience in pupil transportation.

8.                   Effective communication skills.

REPORTS TO:  Bus Driver/Trainer (Lead)

SUPERVISES:  School Bus Drivers and Bus Aides

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.                    Establish and maintain good rapport with employees, students and community.

2.                    Conducts initial certification and Commercial Drivers License training for new employees.

3.                    Conduct in-service, refresher and remedial training for all certified Bus Drivers and Aides.

4.                    Conduct bus evacuation training and drills.

5.                    Perform road watch functions to verify route times, safe driving, student discipline, and bus stop issues.

6.                    Perform basic office functions in support of the operations staff.

7.                    Inspect buses for cleanliness and damage.

8.                    Coach drivers in effective discipline procedures.

9.                    Work with building administrators regarding transportation issues.

10.                 Evaluate drivers and aides as required.

11.                 Drive routes as required.

12.                 Other job related duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten, or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
