TEENAGE ASSISTANT – EXTENDED SCHOOL YEAR

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.              High School Diploma or GED.

2.              Effective communication skills.

GRADE: 1

REPORTS TO: Teachers and/or Therapists

SUPERVISES:       

JOB GOAL: Assist teachers, therapists, and/or paraprofessionals in both instruction and therapy with handicapped students in the summer program for handicapped students. Provide companionship and a "role model" as a typical teenager in relationship to the handicapped students.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Establish and maintan good rapport with students, employees, and community
  2. Assist students to and from busses and around the campus.
  3. Escort students (with teacher, paraprofessional, and/or therapist) during community-based activities off campus.
  4. Assist in feeding tasks with students.
  5. Assist therapists in provision of their services.
  6. Other job-related duties as assigned. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten, or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board. 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
