SPECIAL EDUCATION TRANSLATOR

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Experience with Microsoft Office products
  3. Effective communication skills
  4. Familiarity with Special Education
  5. Knowledge of the Spanish/English language verbal & written
  6. Proven translating/interpreting ability

 

GRADE:  21

 

REPORTS TO:  Director of Special Education

 

SUPERVISES:  N/A

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

     1.          Establish & maintain a good rapport with students, staff & community

     2.          Maintain confidentiality

     3.          Perform a wide variety of translating documents from English to Spanish and Spanish to English, using correct vocabulary & syntax

     4.          Perform a wide variety of interpreting for meetings, etc.

     5.          Prepare copies of information as needed

     6.          Develop system for collecting information for reports of what has been translated & why

     7.          Keep Director informed of any details affecting the Special Education office

     8.          Other job-related duties as assigned

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten or twelve-month year.  Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the BoardÕs policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
