EDUCATION RECORDS SPECIALIST
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
High
School Diploma or GED.
2.
Proficient
in typing, grammar, and writing skills.
3.
Excellent
organizational skills.
4.
Good
multi-tasking skills, e.g., an ability to develop and implement projects.
5.
Demonstrated
knowledge and ability to utilize modern office methods/procedures including
computing and word processing.
6.
General
knowledge of the SASI XP and AS 400 operating systems.
GRADE: 9
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
JOB GOAL: To maintain files per federal, state, and district policies
and procedures regarding special education, to protect confidentiality of student
records, and to monitor psychologists' evaluation/re-evaluation schedules.
ESSENTIAL JOB
FUNCTIONS:
1.
Establish
and maintain positive working relationships/telephone communication with school
staff and community.
2.
Complete
responsibilities of position with a minimum of supervision.
3.
Provide
an efficient office operation with organization/planning (i.e., supply
orders/distribution, form orders) and cross training to serve as back-up/aid to
other office support positions.
4.
Know
district policies and practices and be able to accurately relate such
information to staff, students, parents, and community members.
5.
Forward
student records on request from other schools/agencies.
6.
Responsible
for establishing, updating, and maintaining tracking system to determine
re-evaluation workload for psychologists.
7.
Typing
evaluation/re-evaluations for psychologists.
8.
Create
and maintain all confidential special education student files and/or student
information.
9.
Notify
parents/guardians of destruction of special education files, mailing files to
qualifying parties.
10.
Utilize
SASI, Excel, and other Microsoft programs to create, query, and store
information.
11.
Typing
and formatting Special Education forms for printing.
12.
Other
job duties as assigned.
TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT:
Nine, ten, or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the
Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job
will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on
Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
