SUPERVISES: Payroll Technician I & II
ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.
Establish
& maintain a good rapport with employees & community.
2.
Maintain
thorough knowledge of all employee groups & bargaining agreements.
3.
Maintain
& audit employee time worked/time missed records.
4.
Audit
contracts & Personnel Action Forms.
5.
Supervise
payroll process & printing of payroll warrants, expense checks & W-2
forms.
6.
Ability
to independently identify problems, develop solutions & implement plan.
7.
Knowledge
of all federal, state & county guidelines.
8.
Maintain
knowledge of relevant laws & regulations effecting payroll & fiscal
operations.
9.
Implement
new & ongoing procedures.
10.
Responsible
for internal audit of district funds to ensure compliance for preparations of
annual audit.
11.
Demonstrate
experience interpreting & implementing laws, regulations, accounting
standards as they pertain to payroll or accounting related policies &
procedures.
12.
Provide
support & training to Payroll Technicians in using payroll data &
implementing new procedures.
13.
Interpret
chart of accounts.
14.
Generate
& prepare reports as required by State & Federal law, Governing Board
Policy & as requested by administration
15.
Analyze
payroll data and prepare journal entries.
16.
Exercise
judgment when dealing with confidential information.
17.
Communicate
effectively & provide technical assistance with staff, community, schools,
vendors and governmental agencies.
18.
Perform
duties of immediate supervisor in supervisorÕs absence.
19.
Serve
as back-up employee to other Payroll Technicians.
20.
Other
job-related duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established
by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of
this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the BoardÕs policy
on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
