PAYROLL
TECHNICIAN II (previously
Accounting Specialist)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school Diploma or GED.
- Two years high school accounting and/or five years
experience in full charge double-entry bookkeeping or one year of college
accounting and two years experience in full charge double-entry
bookkeeping.
- Experience with computerized payroll systems and
Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to operate routine office machines.
Experience in calculator usage a must.
- Effective communication skills.

Department Administrator
SUPERVISES:
Accounting Clerks
JOB GOAL:
ESSENTIAL JOB
FUNCTIONS:
- Establish and maintain a good rapport with students,
employees and community
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all employee groups
and bargaining agreements.
- Maintain and audit employee time worked/time missed
records.
- Process contract and Personnel Action Forms.
- Supervise the printing of payroll warrants, expense
checks, and W-2’s.
- Maintain all deductions in compliance with federal,
state, and county guidelines.
- Implement new and ongoing procedures.
- Responsible for internal audit of district funds to
ensure compliance fore preparations of annual audit.
- Provide support and training to district personnel in
using payroll data.
- Interpret and implement chart of accounts.
- Prepare reports as required by State and Federal law,
Governing Board Policy, and as requested by administration.
- Analyze payroll data and prepare journal entries.
- Exercise judgment when dealing with confidential
information
- Communicate effectively and provide technical
assistance with staff, community, schools, vendors, and governmental agencies.
- Perform duties of immediate supervisor in
supervisor's absence.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Nine, ten, or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the
Board.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the
Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
