PARA EDUCATOR – SUNKIDS PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Current CPR & First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire (district to provide training)
  3. Effective communication skills
  4. Effective interpersonal skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Previous experience working with special needs students
  2. Previous experience working with children birth to 5 years

 

GRADE:  9

 

REPORTS TO:  Preschool Teacher/Site Administrator

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

        1.               Establish & maintain positive rapport with students, co-workers & community.

        2.               Facilitate needs & safety of student.

        3.               Work as an active participant in collaborative team model; attend team meetings, in-services & other trainings as requested by teacher or administrative staff.

        4.               Assist student with personal & hygienic care (to include lifting, feeding, diapering, toilet training).

        5.               Assist teacher in implementation of classroom management, instructional objectives & student IEP goals.

        6.               Document care delivered to the student(s) using written & electronic methods.

        7.               Other job-related duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten or twelve-month year.  Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the BoardÕs policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
