LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE – PERSONAL CARE EDUCATOR (previously was Licensed Practical Nurse/One-On-One)

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Possession of a current license to practice as a licensed practical nurse.
3. Effective communication skills.
4. Previous experience working with severely handicapped children.

REPORTS TO: Elementary School Nurse

SUPERVISES:

JOB GOAL:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees and community.
2. Observe, record, and report to the school nurse the condition of the student including signs and symptoms, which may be indicative of a change in the patient’s condition.
3. Provide for the emotional and physical comfort of the student.
4. Assist in the care of the student in accordance with the student’s care plan.
5. Assist as needed with other students in program.
6. Other job-related duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten, or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
