LIBRARY MEDIA TECHNICIAN

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.      High School Diploma or GED.

2.      Experience with Microsoft Office Products.

3.      Demonstrated general clerical experience and knowledge of library operations/terminology.

4.      Demonstrated ability in record keeping, minor book repair, and operation of library office equipment.

5.      Effective communication skills.

REPORTS TO: Librarian

SUPERVISES:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, and community.
  2. Distribute and process audiovisual equipment and other library materials, and assist in the selection of equipment and materials.
  3. Charge-out, check-in and reshelf books, other library materials, and audiovisual equipment.
  4. Process materials and maintain records for school wide reading program.
  5. Collect library fees.
  6. Do minor repairs on books, other library materials and equipment.
  7. Perform various clerical duties.
  8. Edit, compile and update book list, using computer for updating.
  9. Train staff and volunteers in use of library equipment.
  10. Work with video rack system (“stack”), design graphic, display dates, etc.
  11. Tape live television performances of students’ activities/events.
  12. Other job-related duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, Ten, or Twelve-month year, salary to be established by the Governing Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
