IT MULTIMEDIA WRITER

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Ability to digitize, organize and deliver diverse curricular content through a variety of technologically rich platforms.
  3. Strong verbal, written, multimedia, interpersonal, creative, analytical problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  4. Knowledge of and experience with: videography, photography, sound recording, digital editing, document editing, content management, digital file conversion, web publishing and audio/video streaming.
  5. Organizational skills in digitized content management and delivery including tagging, mapping, and RSS.
  6. Education and experience in visual communication, technical editing, and writing with technology.
  7. Experience with content management systems, e.g., Moodle, Sakai, Blackboard, FirstClass, Joomla, etc.
  8. Experience with multimedia software, e.g, Camtasia, Final Cut, QuickTime, Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Audacity, iWorks, iLife, iTunes, Jing, etc.
  9. Experience with web site development, gaming and virtual environments, and web-based programming languages, e.g. JavaScript, HTML, PHP-scripting, XHTML and CSS.
  10. Understanding and education on the impact of multiple media communication in the learning environment and society as a whole.
  11. Experience in a K-12 work environment.
  12. Ability to work independently, as a team member, and/or organize and take a principle role in department projects, tasks and initiatives.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelors Degree in Multimedia Writing, Technical Communication or Communication.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

            The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

GRADE:  Salaried/Exempt $42,000 - $45,000

 

REPORTS TO:  Director of Information Technology or designee

 

SUPERVISES:  N/A

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.     Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, department staff, vendors, contractors and community.

2.     Confer with the PVUSD community on best practices for production of digital resources.

3.     Produce and organize according to curricular and instructional best practices, commercial, open source, Creative Commons and PVUSD-generated digital content.

4.     Assist in the support of synchronizing data resources to curricular, instructional, learning and administrative platforms.

5.     Coach and train others on the production of digital curricular, learning, teaching and administrative resources as determined by the Curriculum Department.

6.     Support the use of PVUSDÕs network services on all tasks, projects and initiatives throughout the district.

7.     Take the principle role and/or serve on a team with other personnel throughout the district, including embracing curricular, instructional, technical and logistical directions from/to a colleague.

8.     Other job-related duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten or twelve-month year.  Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the BoardÕs policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
