IT DATABASE ENGINEER

(Formerly IT Data Specialist III)

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelors degree in Engineering, Database Technologies or Database Administration
  2. Understand and have significant experience with data and programming theory and application.
  3. Understand and have significant experience with student information and student achievement systems, data and processes, in a K12 enterprise.
  4. Understand a variety of software and operating systems.
  5. Understand and have significant experience with a variety of software tools applicable to data and programming.
  6. Demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Ability to work well in a K-12 enterprise.
  8. Ability to train and coach on programming and data systems.
  9. Ability to work independently, as a team member, and/or organize and take a principle role in department projects, tasks and initiatives.
  10. Effective verbal, written and multimedia communication skills.
  11. Valid Arizona Drivers License and acceptable driving record.
  12. Ability to perform work in flexible shifts, including but not limited to; evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

REPORTS TO:  Director of Information Technology or designee

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

        1.               Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, department staff, vendors, contractors and community.

        2.               Program and manage data using tools including but not limited to; HTML, JavaScript, MySQL, DBF, FMP, XML, ODBC, JDBC, Linux, Apache, PHP, etc., and assigned tools, including but not limited to; Oracle, .NET, Sybase, Java, Flash, AJAX, etc..

        3.               Program and manage data solutions including, but not limited to; commercial and open source systems using a variety of APIs.

        4.               Coach and train others, including but not limited to; site staff, students, community, department staff, district administration office staff and administrators, on data, programs and systems throughout the district.

        5.               Design, deploy, install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain data and programmed systems throughout the district.

        6.               Program and manage data on projects and initiatives throughout the district.

        7.               Take the principle role and/or serve on a team with other personnel throughout the district, including embracing technical and logistical directions from/to a colleague.

        8.               Take the principle role on all department programming and data activities, as assigned.

        9.               Other job-related duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten or twelve-month year.  Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the BoardÕs policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
