Hands On Science Center Technician II

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school Diploma or GED
  2. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  3. Ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds
  4. Ability to work in warehouse conditions of varied temperature & humidity
  5. Effective communication skills
  6. Valid Arizona drivers license

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. General knowledge of school district organization and operations
  2. Experience in general warehouse operations and operation of material handling equipment

 

GRADE:  13

 

REPORTS TO:  Distribution Center Supervisor/ Science Curriculum Specialist

 

JOB GOAL:  To support the operational objectives and goals of the Hands on Science Center

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.            Responsible for inventorying, packing, refurbishing & shipping kits in and out of the HOSC.

2.            Examine, inventory & stock incoming ancillary science equipment from schools (Extra equipment, one of a kind tools, extra books, science related items).

3.            Prepare and refurbish kits.

4.            Understand curriculum of kits & develop resources related to communication & distribution of kits; assist with HOSC newsletter.

5.            Create spreadsheets and monitor daily usage.

6.            Utilize Saguaro Resource software for all aspects of ordering.

7.            Prepare for animal housing & care.

8.            Assist with design of center; including materials management flow.

9.            Keep up to date inventory lists; communicate with Curriculum Department when materials are needed; assist in ordering refurbishment materials, receiving & restocking of all materials.

10.          Stock, organize, clean & label merchandise on all shelves.

11.          Establish & maintain good rapport with students, employees & community.

12.          Perform courier services as needed.

13.          Transfer district property as needed.

14.          Utilize warehouse computerized system.

15.          Assist in the training of all new & summer employees.

16.          Operate district vehicles as needed.

17.          Knowledge of MSDS (Materials Safety Data Sheet)

18.          Other job related duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Ten or twelve-month year.  Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the BoardÕs policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
