Hands On Science Center Technician I

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school Diploma or GED
  2. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  3. Ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds
  4. Ability to work in warehouse conditions of varied temperature & humidity
  5. Effective communication skills
  6. Valid Arizona drivers license

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. General knowledge of school district organization and operations
  2. Experience in general warehouse operations and operation of material handling equipment

 

GRADE:  11

 

REPORTS TO:  Distribution Center Supervisor/ Science Curriculum Specialist/ HOSC Tech II

 

JOB GOAL:  To support the operational objectives and goals of the Hands on Science Center

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.            Examine & inventory incoming kits from the schools.

2.            Prepare & refurbish kits.

3.            Prepare for animal housing and care with HOSC.  Maintain & update ÒLive Specimen Care & InstructionÓ sheets.  Provide to all classrooms receiving specimens.

4.            Assist with ordering all live specimens including preparing for delivery, set-up at schools, proving food & care instructions, pick-up from schools & maintain or dispose of all live specimens per Federal specifications.

5.            Assist in ordering refurbishment materials.

6.            Establish & maintain good rapport with students, employees and community.

7.            Perform courier services as needed.

8.            Transfer district property form one location to another as needed for district purposes.

9.            Utilize Saguaro Software – HOSC computerized system.

10.          Stock, organize & label merchandise.

11.          Operate district vehicles as needed.

12.          Knowledge of MSDS (Materials Safety Data Sheet).

13.          Other job related duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Ten or twelve-month year.  Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the BoardÕs policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
