BILINGUAL COMMUNITY LIAISON FOR TITLE VII GRANT 'PROJECT NUESTRO'

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum of two years college credit (equivalent of AA degree), bachelor's degree preferred.
  2. Experience in working with preschool school age children.
  3. Bilingual/bi-literate fluency in English and Spanish.
  4. Demonstrated excellence in communication.
  5. Demonstrated sensitivity to the viewpoint of others.
  6. Demonstrated active and open learner.
  7. Demonstrated excellence in social and public relations skills.

GRADE: 20

REPORTS TO: Project Directors.

SUPERVISES: N/A

JOB GOAL: The Bilingual Liaison will provide a vital communication and support link between home and school to help cultivate giftedness in ELL students at Echo Mountain Elementary.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    1. Recruit parents for participation in Project NUESTRO classes and activities.
    2. Help develop family education program and schedule.
    3. Organize childcare learning centers and activities.
    4. Assist in parent education in intellectual development of children.
    5. Support project activities including Fast Forward and Discover Process.
    6. Maintain effective communication between home and school.
    7. Assist teachers and school staff in providing strategies for improved student success.
    8. Make home visits to further the goals of Project NUESTRO for improved student academic achievement.
    9. Assist in the collection and maintenance of data on students and services provided.
    10. Maintain flexible hours to support evening programs.
    11. Other job-related duties as assigned.

 TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten, or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
