ASSISTANT COACH

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Knowledge of the assigned sport.
  2. Previous coaching experience preferred.
  3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Athletic Director may deem appropriate.

GRADE: 31

REPORTS TO: Athletic Director

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Teaching sports techniques, playing rules, strategies and playing tactics.
  2. Conditioning athletes appropriately for activities requiring endurance, strength and agility.
  3. Supervising and conducting practices and contests safely; supervising locker rooms and buses.
  4. Teaching sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic and responsibility to oneีs team in accordance with the Pursuit of Victory With Honor philosophy.
  5. Monitoring athletes; school attendance, grades and personal conduct.
  6. Instructing athletes in safety procedures and in the need to report injuries to the Coach and Trainer immediately; implement appropriate procedures for handling injury situations; ensure the availability of a properly supplied first aid kit and emergency care cards at all times.
  7. Managing uniforms, equipment and school facilities in a responsible manner.
  8. Knowledge of AIA bylaws.
  9. Communicating with parents, students, officials, administrators and community with regard to your program.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

 TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work period to be determined by the appropriate Region and the Athletic Director.

 EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Athletic Department Personnel.
