ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN IV

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Two semesters of college accounting & three years experience in A/P & automated full charge; double entry bookkeeping or minimum five years experience in A/P & bookkeeping
  3. Knowledge & experience with USFR Accounting & Coding requirements
  4. Experience with computerized accounting systems & Microsoft Office products
  5. Supervisory skills
  6. Ability to analyze financial data
  7. Effective communication skills

 

GRADE:  31-3

 

REPORTS TO:  Director of Budget & Finance

 

SUPERVISES:  Accounting Technicians I, II, and III

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

        1.               Establish & maintain a good rapport with students, employees & community.

        2.               Direct day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable Department.

        3.               Responsible for coordinating a large number complex funds & projects.

        4.               Develop & implement new procedures.

        5.               Responsible for internal audit of district funds to ensure compliance for preparation of Annual State Audit.

        6.               Evaluate Accounting Technicians I, II & III.

        7.               Provide support & training to school personnel in analyzing district financial data.

        8.               Interpret chart of accounts & code requisitions & contracts.

        9.               Verify budget & cash availability.

    10.               Prepare expenditure reports for Governing Board approval & ratification.

    11.               Post & reconcile district revenue.

    12.               Analyze financial statements & prepare journal entries.

    13.               Prepares summary reports, quarterly reports & budget reports.

    14.               Exercises judgment when dealing with confidential information.

    15.               Provides technical assistance to & reviews work of subordinates.

    16.               Provides information & assistance to overall district financial office.

    17.               Compiles & submits intricate federal & state financial reports as required by federal guidelines for government funding.

    18.               Accounts receivable billing & maintenance.

    19.               Performs duties of immediate supervisor in supervisorÕs absence.

    20.               Communications effectively with staff, community, schools, vendors & Maricopa County Schools office.

    21.               Other job-related duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten or twelve-month year.  Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the BoardÕs policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
